Freelance writing jobs have been popular for ages now. For those who have the creative streak and can write a whole bunch of articles, blog posts, etc., can make money online this way.

Someone sent me a message, asking me if he could apply for writing jobs even if he is not here in the Philippines. Of course he can but the rate will be Philippine based rate.

Freelance writing jobs is not exactly lucrative for most Filipinos. There are individuals or companies that ask writers to write a dozen articles in 1 day for P1,000. I guess some people are article mills but it makes me wonder about the quality of the articles. It also makes me wonder how any business or company would pay for something like this. And there are a lot of writers who have complained that they didn’t get paid after submitting their written work. There are a lot of scammers who take advantage of freelance writers.

But of course, there are also those who pay well for quality work. I remember Filipina freelance writer who said she can get paid $50 for a quality article.

There are all kinds of freelance writing jobs like technical writing, travel writing, academic writing, etc. I did academic writing for a short while but had to stop because my brain couldn’t take it. 😀

Travel writing is exciting and fun. There are a lot of people who travel to different countries and write about their adventures to make money. You can start your own travel blog to make money online or write for people or websites.

Where to find freelance writing jobs

ProBlogger.net has been around for as long as I can remember.  The site is “dedicated to helping other bloggers learn the skills of blogging, share their own experiences and promote the blogging medium.” They also have a ProBlogger job board for those who want to make money online from blogging.

Freelance Writing is another good site to find online writing jobs. I didn’t know of this site till now. They have lots of tips and lead to share. The site delivered freelance writing jobs to freelance writers. I saw an ad for content recipe writer. Interesting!

LinkedIn too is a good place to find writing jobs. You can find just through their job search page.

Other sites where you can find online writing jobs would be ODesk, Elance and even Craigslist. JournalismJobs.com is like a search engine for writing jobs where companies post their job ads. I haven’t explored the site but it’s worth checking out.
